I created these mixed media silhouettes as part of my Artist Residency at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, CA. During the month of August, 2010, I traced the silhouettes of museum visitors while listening to and recording their descriptions of artworks that were particularly meaningful to them in the permanent collection of the de Young. My goal was to humanize the private individual experience of viewing art and also transform it into a vision of a shared experience. These mixed media projects include the use of drawing, silkscreen, collage, and paint.
